CHILDREN & TEENS

Counseling for Children in Omaha

No parent wants their child to hurt.  However, when you recognize that your child needs more support than you are able to provide, it can bring about a new set of fears: "Is my child going to be ok?" "What did I do wrong?" "Who will I trust to work with my child?"  CARITAS Counseling understands this fear, we will provide safe, effective and Christian based child therapy that addresses the child's needs while encouraging the parent's strengths.

Friendly Environment

"Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me” Mark 9:37.

When children walk through the doors of our office, they are immediately welcomed into an environment that facilitates comfort, security, and warmth. Children communicate differently from adults, therefore, our child therapy room is a welcoming, child-friendly environment created to instill a sense of security, trust and curiosity.

Play Therapy

Instead of traditional talk therapy, children are encouraged to express their feelings and find mastery over their challenges through art and play. In play therapy, children will use puppets, clay, a sand tray, miniatures, costumes, play houses, and other strategic toys.

We Tackle the Issues

Through the use of play therapy, children learn to identify and express their feelings. With Jen, kids explore and tackle the bigger issues that bring them into therapy: worries, divorce, abuse, grief, negative behaviors, ADHD, loneliness, anxiety, trauma and anger.

Counseling Young People in Omaha

In many ways, today’s adolescents have it harder than ever before. The stress created by the pressures of school, family, media and peers can be overwhelming. Here at CARITAS Counseling, we go above and beyond to give your child a safe place to be themselves and find healing.

Inner Strength

"I am fearfully and wonderfully made. His works are wonderful! I know that full well!" Psalm 139:14.

Unfortunately, many youth do not know or believe this to be true. Instead, pressure from the media, judgement from peers, family stress, childhood trauma and unmet expectations from parents, adults and friends cause adolescents to question their uniqueness, strength and beauty.

Share Experiences

At CARITAS Counseling, we seek to meet each teenager exactly where they are at. She understands that in order for a youth to open up and trust anyone (let alone an adult), they need to feel heard and valued. We use talk, art and play to help each teenager to explore her feelings, share her experience, and voice her hope.

We Work Together

In this environment, teenagers are given space to work through the issues that first brought them to counseling. Jennifer is skilled at helping teenagers address and work through depression, insecurity and self-doubt, grief, loneliness, anxiety and family and peer issues.
